1966 Shelby GT350
Back in 1965, I wrecked my 1965 Mustang Fastback. I was this beauty in the paper for $1600 – it took me a month to convince my father that I deserved it. This blue with white LeMans stripes 1966 Shelby GT350 was purchased from Koons Ford in Virginia by a man who was in the Service. He sold me the car when he and his wife were expecting their first baby in 1969 – I was 17 years old and going steady with Bonnie. I drove it all through high school and to college at the University of Miami. Bonnie even learned how to drive a clutch in this car - with a 3400-lb. pressure plate, skipping and hopping all around the parking lot for 2 days! |
| The pony was parked in
1973 when we got married and had children. We put 3 daughters through
college and now can afford to put the car back on the road. After a
little elbow grease and a fresh coat of pain, we’re having fun entering
local car shows and traveling to annual SAAC events. We’ve having fun driving this car in our mid-life crisis (or should I say… I’m having fun - Bonnie doesn’t drive it any more! ) At SAAC-28, our first National Show, we took home 3rd Place in the Popular Vote Show; last Halloween we dressed up the pony as a P-51 Mustang, propeller & all; we also received the Silver Concours Award at the 2004 National Capital Region Mustang Show. |

| Kevin & Bonnie went to the “Wings and Wheels” show on Kent Island in June 2005. Here is their “P-51 Mustang” on the tarmac with the rest of the airplanes. More than a few kids (and adults) asked if they had flown it there! |
